Friday night I was feeling pretty down so I put together a nice little lifting routine for myself because I wanted a hit of endorphins!
I didn’t commit to the squats with kicks and could have/should have done more, but I did knock out a 30 second plank PR when I finally hit 2 minutes!! Yessss!
I’ve got toย give a shout out to Xtina because listening to Dirrty really helped me with ^ this monumental achievement in my life.
On Saturday I woke up early, grabbed a coffee and went on a quest to find bar stools forย the new apartment.
I ended up finding great stools at Target for only $80 each, or as I like to think of it, the cost of two local half marathons.
After assembly, Adam and I promptly parked our butts in front of the TV to watch football all day.
Sunday included lots of football as well, and I am very happy that Green Bay is moving on!!! While I wish the Dolphins were still playing, Aaron Rodgers is the love of my life so I have to support GB.
(Kristen, does this make us enemies this week?! ๐ )
Adam is supporting the Patriots throughout the playoffs so I am really hoping for a Packers vs. Patriots Super Bowlย so we can make a friendly wager! haha
After the GB game I hit up the gym and FINALLY went for a run after a week off!!!!
I only ran for 20 minutes because apparently I don’t know how to use the settings on these fancy new treadmills and the machine turned off after 20 mins, but I was completely pain free the whole time! WHOO!
Afterwards I did the stationary bike for a little bit while watching the game.
(Does anyone else out there have a Galaxy S5 phone? I just got one and whenever I use the self-facing camera it turns on something called “Beautify” mode which seems to just make my head look like giant alien head. ย I don’t like it!)
The rest of the night was spent just relaxing, drinking hot tea and preparing for the week ahead.
I hope you had a nice, relaxing weekend!
Do you have any fitness goals this year that aren’t running related?
Enjoying the way the playoffs are shaping up so far?
So glad to hear you had a pain-free run! It sounds like you had a very productive weekend!

It was a great mix of production and football watching!
wow two minute plank, I think I’m still working on a thirty second plank lol.
Yeah those treadmills can be tricky, especially when your running on a new one. That’s why I stay away from them. Aside from the Eagles not in the playoffs, I’m loving the way the playoffs are shaping up. If the Seahawks can lose I’m 100% happy.
Author
Hahahha no way you can totally do a 30 second plank, don’t be crazy!
The Packers will make sure you stay happy!
Hooray for running pain free!!!
We aren’t really watching the play-offs – lame but true! I guess I should pick a team to really support so that I cared more about pro football but for now I just watch college football and basketball.
Author
I’m exactly the opposite, I don’t watch college at all but I love the pros! The world needs people like us to support the different types of entertainment out there! ๐
Yaaaa, for pain free running! Kick butt weight lifting. I am still trying to get that elusive two minute plank, maybe I need Dirty on my playlist ๐ I can barely keep up right now, work is so busy, if I tried to make a goal other than training I am sure I would put me over the edge lol
Author
You do need Dirrty on your playlist! For some reason that song just always gets me pumped out. I listen to it on repeat during speedwork sometimes!
You are doing amazing with your marathon training!
I need to plank more! 2 minutes makes me hurt!! I had 2 c sections and have struggled ever since to get these abs in shape!! You are a total power house compared to me! I am such a weight wimp!!
So great you ran with no pain!!! Calf pain is so not fun!!!!
Author
Hahaha yes 2 minutes hurts!!! I was shaking and sweating like crazy, haha. I think I produced more sweat during those 2 minutes than I do during a 20 minute run!
Sounds like a great weekend, and I hope you’re enjoying getting settled into the new place. A pain-free run is always a good feeling!
To be honest, NFL kind of bores me, but we watch so much college football that I really don’t have the energy for MORE football on Sundays/Mondays after a marathon day of watching (and yelling) on Saturdays, haha. Living in Columbus means that you can’t help but be forced to watch Buckeye games wherever you go; since OSU is playing in the championship game tonight, that is the big topic of convo around these parts. As it happens, I despise Ohio State and actively root against them so go Ducks!
Author
Go Ducks! I’m not a fan of either team and don’t know anything about the players, but I know the Ducks are the favorites and produce a lot of good NFL players!
Wooo congrats on the plank PR! Planks are the best!
Author
Hmmmm Court, I don’t know if I would describe planks as “the best” but they sure are something! ๐
Great job on the plank! I got up to five minutes last year and now, not so much!! ๐
Author
FIVE MINUTES!!!! That’s awesome! I can’t even *imagine* planking for that long!
Awesome on the plank! And the pain-free run!
Author
Thanks Jenn! Really excited to have a pain free calf!
I almost choked on my food when I read “two local half marathons.” I totally compare my purchases to running too! “well that costs a race entry and my textbooks are the price of a pair of running shoes”
Author
Hahahah exactly! I’m glad we’re on the same wave length!
Hooray for a pain-free run!!! I hate when treadmills turn off automatically. I’m always so caught off-guard, like, why is it slowing down?
Beautify mode turns you into a bobble head?! Weird!
Author
Yes! I was wondering what was going on since the treadmill at my old gym used to just go on forever. I figured out how to override the 20 minute setting tonight, phew!
I think “Beautify” mode stretches out my head/face to try and make it look slimmer? Hmmmm >:/
Glad to hear the running was pain free. I saw your note on IG about Xtina – will need to turn that on while planking!! I actually plank in silence lol…im sure music will help.
Author
YOU PLANK IN SILENCE?!!!! Nooooooo don’t do that! You must listen to Dirrty the next time!
Congrats on the pain free running! It’s always such a great feeling. I have those shorts! Aren’t they the best!?
Author
They are the absolute BEST – the only shorts I wear for working out!
I have an S5 but I don’t know much about the front facing camera. I don’t think you look like you have a giant alien head, though ๐
Author
Hahaha, thanks! I think it gave me a bit of a stretched out cone head…. but maybe that’s just what my head looks like!
Congrats!! And whoa a two-minute plank? I am so horrible at them and get bored after ten seconds. Nice work!!
I’m so glad to hear you had a pain free run! Now you can get back to training.
I don’t have many thoughts on the NFL playoffs, but I was pretty happy that Ohio State won last night. We’re a house divided Pac12/Big10, so even though I’m not an Ohio fan and I’m still bitter about Urban Meyer leaving UF, I was still happy that the right side won ๐
Nice work with the planks and yay for running pain free! I need more planks in my life.
The PACKERS??? No, we cannot be friends this week. ๐ After the Seahawks win, you will root for them in the Super Bowl…right? ๐
