Why I Haven’t Run Since Sunday + My Finish Line Photo

In case you are wondering why I haven’t yet written about a post-half marathon recovery run it is because it has not happened.

Completely unrelated to running 13.1 I twisted my ankle and now my ankle and foot have swollen to the size of a small country. Too gross to share a picture.

So, there has been no running. Only hobbling around, ace bandage compression and ridiculously cold foot ice baths (that Cecil has mistaken for a large water bowl):

Mostly this inactivity hasn’t been bad since I knew I would need to go easy after Sunday anyway. But tonight was kind of hard.

The weather cooled down and it is about 69 degrees outside right now with a slight wind. Near perfect running conditions!!!! Gahhh sitting at home is hard.

Marathon Foto posted the pics from Sun. and I am actually smiling in my finish line photo! Shocking! : )

Finish line photo

I just really wish that the digital download didn’t cost $25. That is a lot of money to download one single photo! With that being said, I will probably end up buying it anyway : )

You only cross the finish line at your first 13.1 one time after all!

Dear Brooks Adrenaline, thank you for taking me all the way!

It’s normal to thank you running shoes right? When I took them off after the race I kind of wanted to hug them. (Okay, that’s a little weird right?).

I really hope that I can get out for a small run by Sunday!

Have you ever sprained your ankle? How long did it take to heal?

Do you like ace bandages? I hate them. They stick to my skin!

Ah, that sucks! I’ve been taking the week off so that I could have some extra cold-recovery time. I think my first run back will be this weekend, just 3 miles probably. The weather is FINALLY cool…why couldn’t it be cool the day of the race?!

Your photo is great! You look so happy! I did splurge and buy a photo from the PR half last year. This year, I just pirated them hehe.

Oh no! That sucks about your ankle! I twisted mine back in Feb this year – was so annoyed at myself, as I ran in the dark and in a new place on a boardwlak and then predictably fell off and did it. 🙁 It swelled up massively and yes, I feel your pain re: hobbling and not being able to move. The good news? Mine was pretty much ‘healed’ 7-8 days later. I was impressed coz I thought it would take 2-3-4 weeks, but hey-ho, must have been all the (very frustrating) resting and lying around I did that week. 🙂 Get well soon!

Also, GREAT photo! Reckon you should splurge hey, what a great memory, your first one of many 🙂
