Monday is here again. Isn’t it such a shame that the weekend goes by so fast?
Mondays are GREAT! Mondays are my rest day and when you’re following a Hansons plan, finally reaching your one rest day after a long week that includes back-to-back long runs during the weekend is like finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! 🙂
Mondays are excellent but let’s rewind back to the weekend for a minute.
On Saturday I decided to vlog (and even got Adam to agree to be on camera a little, yay!):
It was a very productive weekend day:
- We went house hunting again
- I got in a lifting session
- Went for a nice little run on the t-mill
- Helped my mom mount her new TV
- Cat napped with Cecil
To anyone who thinks cats are all aloof and independent, please come visit Cecil. He will definitely change your mind!
An update on the house hunting front for anyone interested who doesn’t want to watch the vlog: we found The One and we’re putting in an offer today! *fingers crossed*
It was the first time that Adam and I walked into a place and were instantly blown away. When I fell in love with the condo we put an offer in on a couple of weeks ago, it was really the view that I fell in love with not the unit itself. The bedrooms were small and the bathrooms were small too.
We were willing to brush those things aside because the view was great, but in the end when our offer was rejected we felt somewhat relieved. Even if we had gotten it at the price we offered I think we would have still felt a little unhappy with the size of the rooms in the long run.
The place we found this weekend is a townhouse. It’s about double the size of the condo which means the rooms are all plenty big :). There are a million things about this townhouse that we love and I hope that I’ll be able to show and tell you about them all soon!
There’s no view of the ocean, but since I go running at the beach several times a week I will still get my fair share of waves, sand and pretty palm trees.
My long run on Sunday was killer. I went in the late afternoon (6pm) when the sun was still up a little bit too high. I must have lost 10lbs in sweat!
YEAH! I’m surviving this #run in “feels like 96* with 76 dew point!” Oh wait, no I’m not. Ughhhhh! Let’s just say between the heat/humidity/cumulative fatigue I’m definitely feeling the burn of marathon training.
During my run yesterday I said to myself, “I will never train for a race again. It’s too hot to be a distance runner. Kill me now.”
Of course by the time I finished the run I was already thinking about how this training is preparing me for the opportunity to PR in the half this fall… but for now the focus is on Chicago only!
Before I sign off I just have to give a shoutout to my friend Cori who ran her first 50K this weekend!
During training for her first ultra, Cori raised $1250 for the National MS Society. How awesome is that?
I’m sure she’ll be writing a recap this week so keep an eye on her blog!
