I had the world’s best run yesterday. It was 89 degrees with a feels like temp of 99 degrees and I was sweating like crazy, but I wasn’t bothered by the heat at all:
In fact, I wasn’t bothered by anything! For the first time in weeks my legs weren’t sore and there was no tightness in my calves. I ran light and free and in the zone.
I was only planning on doing my short 2-mile loop because I got home from work late and needed to get ready for the Miami Heat game but when I got back to my apartment complex I turned back around to run some more. I just wasn’t ready for it to be over. I haven’t had that feeling in months!
In fact, over the full year that I’ve been running I think it has only happened maybe three or four times.
I don’t think it was runner’s high which I’ve only ever achieved after long, exhaustive runs, I think it was just the perfect relaxed run.
Normally I check my Garmin obsessively to see my pace and how much time I have left on my 3 minute run / 30 second walk intervals, but last night I didn’t look at my Garmin until after I got home. I heard the beeps when it was time for me to switch from running to walking and I followed them, but I really didn’t need to.I think I could have run forever without the 30 second walk breaks.
I love running.
I love running as much as I love the Heat sending Game 6 of The Finals into OT with 5 seconds left in the game. I love running as much as I love the Heat beating the Spurs in OT to go to a Game 7.
Actually, it’s possible that I love running more than the Heat, but I do love the Heat! Let’s GO HEAT!
